In Get Niche Quick there is an entire chapter devoted to online marketing techniques and creating a promotional plan. One aspect of that plan is choosing the right autoresponder. Two of the autoresponder services mentioned in the book include aWeber and GetResponse. Both are extremely good at helping you craft targeted marketing messages and following up with your subscribers and buyers but each one also has its own pros and cons as well. Today’s post will look into each of these autoresponders a little deeper.
Having used (and recommending) both aWeber and GetResponse, they are both incredible systems. Both have high email deliverability rates, excellent support and helpful email marketing tips. However, there is one glaring difference between them that you won’t find unless you’ve actually used both or done a good bit of research on your own.
aWeber Review
aWeber has been around for over 10 years. Their “wizard” system is perhaps the most user-friendly as it walks you through all the steps needed to create your autoresponder. However if you know a good deal about email marketing already, you might find it annoying and intrusive. If you order for a year’s worth of service instead of month to month, you can save around $30.
aWeber includes an unlimited number of autoresponders for $19 per month. Each autoresponder is limited to 500 subscribers before the price goes up. If you’re planning to build a massive mailing list around your niche, aWeber might not be for you. However, for most niche marketers creating a mailing list around a smaller, more targeted subject, aWeber fits the bill nicely.
GetResponse Review
GetResponse has also been around since the late 1990′s and is also very intuitive in its interface. All of the features in GetResponse can be overwhelming to a beginner, however for full control over your email campaign, you simply can’t do any better. GetResponse is also cheaper than aWeber in terms of both its base rate ($17.95 per month) and its subscriber rate (you can have up to 10,000 – yes, 10,000 subscribers and the rate stays at $17.95 per month, whereas with aWeber, you’ll be paying $69 per month).
GetResponse is a better solution if you plan on building a large mailing list around a niche and don’t need to be walked through the process of setting up your messages, subject lines and subscriber list. If one of your niches becomes extremely popular, you’ll be glad you chose GetResponse since that popularity won’t come with a higher price tag.
In the end, no matter which of the two autoresponders you choose, both are well suited to niche marketing websites and businesses. Much of your decision should be based on how far you’d like to take your niche marketing blueprint that you follow in Get Niche Quick. Both services have a money back guarantee in the event you’re unhappy with either of them. But once you try one you’ll be impressed by how far email marketing has come in just a decade!

The only thing I would be wary about when using an Autoresponder would be if your contact is asking a very specific question, would they be offended by an automated response that does not help them? Or are there options with an Autoresponder to deal with this?
Hi John,
With your autoresponder, you should have the ability to specify a reply-to email address (aWeber and GetResponse both allow this). That way if a subscriber happens to reply to your newsletter, you’ll get it in your inbox as you would any other email. If you want people to ask you a question and automatically add them to your list, this is possible too – just let them know that they’ll receive the autoresponder’s verification message first and you’ll then reply to their question once you have their permission to contact them. Hope this helps!
By reading your post I got new info about Aweber. Thank you.
At July 2009 Get Response have changed their pricing drasitcally – now it’s v. similar to Aweber.
For example my monthly mailing costs are going to more or less triple with the new pricing.
But what I REALLY want to know, is which one has better delivery rates?
Shelley
Yes, GetResponse’s pricing and model is now very similar to aWeber’s. I did some research and found that aWeber’s delivery rate is currently beating GetResponse by a few percentage points. I’m sure the delivery rates compete and surpass each other from time to time though depending on the blacklists that the internet providers use — so the one that’s ahead one day could be behind the next.
With most other things the same now, I would concentrate on the service you find easiest to use and best supported for your particular needs. Both of them offer a money back guarantee, so it’s worth trying!
Yes Getresponse did raise there prices. Their prices are slightly lower than Aweber’s.
However Getresponse has just added a survey system to their service.
You can now run surveys from Getresponse. This is something that Aweber does not have.
So right now I think Getresponse has the advantage on features.
On the other hand, aWeber currently has a $1 trial. I have a feeling these two will be trying to one-up each other considerably as email marketing becomes more and more competitive!
Which ESP provides the best delivery rates? I have been thinking of using aweber, Since a lot of my buddies use it but now you say that getresponse is better for prices and more features.
Great review, thank you. Time for a second look at GetResponse.
If you like getresponse think it twice. They are kicking out all members that dind´t upgrade their accounts from 17.99 mo to 149 mo. How are they doing it?, they just inform you that your account will be deactivated in 48 hours due spam practices. That is what you can expect from those people…
Omnistar Mailer has a feature that will automatically manage your subscribers as they become customers
Niche marketing is a good way to promote products and earn money online because there are few competitors yet.;’”
